Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, contesting from Thiruvananthapuram, has asserted that the BJP losing its majority is a "foregone conclusion." Tharoor, optimistic about the prospects of the Congress-led opposition INDIA bloc, stated that the ongoing election scenario is "tremendously positive" for their side.

Speaking exclusively, he remarked on the uphill struggle for the BJP, indicating that the current trajectory is not in favor of the ruling government. Dismissing the ruling party's slogan of "400 paar" as a "joke," stating that surpassing 300 seats is "impossible," with even reaching 200 presenting a "challenge."

He questioned the rationale behind a young voter's continued support for the BJP when promised job opportunities remain unfulfilled after a decade.

Tharoor remarked, "Why would a young man, who voted for the BJP in 2014 (because he was promised a job), still vote for it 10 years later, when he still doesn't have a job?"

He further argued, "When all the economists are saying that 80% of India's population has seen a decline in its income in the last 10 years, why should that 80% vote for the BJP that has put them in that predicament?"

Regarding his own electoral prospects in Thiruvananthapuram, a seat he has won in previous elections, Tharoor expressed confidence in a "very comfortable" victory. His main opponent in the constituency is Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar of the BJP, with all 20 Lok Sabha seats in Kerala voting on April 26, marking the second phase of the general elections.
